Happy snakes & simple pleasures....
by thinker inthe other day at work i saw two harmless brown water snakes in a pool of water.
the pool was fed by two large pipes that allow a stream to pass under a road.
the water drops a couple feet from the pipe to the pool.

I am proud to say that CLS is my wonderful mother-in-law. She is a non Witness, who has taken an interest in my past. And wayyyyyyy better than my ex mother-in-law, who is a hard and fast Witness!!
Hope CLS sticks around and learns!!! Wouldn't want any other poor unsuspecting souls slipping into the trap!!
A great big warm welcome, and happy learning! You will gain insight into who I am and a wealth of other information!!

My simple pleasure in life is simply being. Getting up every day and realizing another wonderful day is ahead. Knowing Thinker is coming home to me and spending one more wonderful day with him.
Not being a Witness makes every day a precious gift.

For those who left: Are you better persons now?
by caballoSentado inhi friends,.
i've read the thread "how many left over the un issue?".
i know ginosko, he is the elder, a very good friend of mine, i told you about when i wrote the threads about the un and my congregation.

Absolutely!! I know that I am definitely a better person.
As a Witness, I never really fit in. I am a free spirited person, and always felt crushed and boxed in. I tended to see things in black and white, as I was raised as a Witness. And under the guise of supporting the tennants of the religion, many times over the years I was very judgmental. I always had a big heart, but sometimes it seemed to have the mercy and compassion squeezed right out of it.
Recently a very dear friend of mine whom I had the dubious honor of introducing to the Witnesses, has come back into my life. She unfortunately is still somewhat active, but decided that our relationship was more important to her than following some rules. She has definitely noticed the difference in me. I am not a nervous wreck anymore, and even when asked, I NEVER tell her what to do, when I was a Witness I did regularly.
Plus she knows how incredibly happy I am with my husband, who is not a Witness. Even though to all appearances I disobeyed all the rules, albiet unspoken about marrying out of the Lord.
Also it is so much easier for me to give free reign to my compulsion to reach out and help others. Now I have time to do it!!

Outcast
by thinkers wife infor the first time in my life, i read richard bach's jonathan livingston seagull.

One more quote to whet your appetite.
"I don't understand how you manage to love a mob of birds that has just tried to kill you." "Oh, Fletch, you don't love that! You don't love the hatred and evil, of course. You have to practice and see the real gull, the good in everyone of them, and to help them see it in themselves. That's what I mean by love. It's fun, when you get the knack of it."

No!! I didn't know that Dutchie. Interesting. I found the book very touching.
Another quote that touched a chord in my heart! There was brief anguish among his studenst, for it is the Law of the Flock that an Outcast never returns, and the Law said stay; Johanthan said go; and by now he was a mile across the water. If they waited much longer, he would reach a hostice Flock alone. "Well, we don't have to obey the law if we're not part of the Flock, do we?" "Besides, if there's a fight, we'll be a lot more help there than here."

You won't be sorry, I am sure you will see many parallels. It is an easy read. It only took about twenty minutes.

I just wanted to share how a book I just read touched me. For the first time in my life, I read Richard Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull. There were several things in the book that touched a chord in my soul. For anyone who has ever been a JW, this is a must read in my opinion.
The quote I wanted to share is as follows. "The voice came inside his own head, and though it was very gentle, it startled him so much that he faltered and stumbled in the air. 'Don't be harsh on them, Fletcher Seagull. In casting you out, the other gulls have only hurt themselves, and one day they will know this, and one day they will se what you see. Forgive them, and help them to understand.'"
This so reminded me of how I feel about all the Witnesses. Although I was the one to da myself, they would have put me out eventually. And in order not to be a hypocrite, I wanted to do it myself. I have felt since then that the scripture they use about "they went out from us but were not of our sort" applies to me in the concave. I was not of their sort, therefore, I went out from them. It is so sad for them. A loss of a good and decent person.
I hope this rambling makes sense to someone and strikes a chord in their heart as well.
